Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as Dreamville Records' first female artist on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. On October 21, 2016, she released Pho, her first EP under the Dreamville Records label. It was at this point that she gained her first the attention of her peers. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio release was May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 when she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her own single Bound and her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. In July of 2015, Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat It Out. J. Cole had her sing her songs in the direction of his Dreamville Team in the following year because he was hoping for Rihanna to be able work with her on some references. The 8th of December was the day she confirmed that she had been officially signed by Dreamville Records. The singer appeared on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. In October 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song and opened with the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. in 2018, the singer-songwriter appeared on two tracks by EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first song Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. A music video followed followed by a video in September. Her second single Grampa on November 9. On November 13 she then came out with two additional singles, No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed alongside Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on the 16th of November. It was then released as a standalone single in February 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. The song was followed by a music video that was released on February 20, 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views via YouTube within one week. As a supporting act she performed with 6LACK during December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
