Kim Delaney is an American actress best known as the character Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she received the Emmy Award. Her most well-known role is her part in All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives. Delaney was born as the only girl of her homemaker mother and an executive in her union, the United Auto Workers. Delaney spent most of her childhood in the company of four brothers. As a child, she dreamt of being a court reporter. After graduating from high school and relocating to New York in the 1980s and began to model, she was hooked. As a teenager, her first role as an actress came in the 1980 soap opera All My Children. Delaney was in numerous of television shows, films as well as dramas in the years since. The way she lives her life, unlike her professional life hasn't had a happy and successful. In the past, this accomplished actress battled alcoholism and had two marriages fail. In 2005 she lost the custody of her son.
